The DF dance theater is a group which incorporates the experience of modern dance with the motion theater. Founded in 1990 by Mariola Kleczkowska and Katarzyna Skawińska, it is an educational project, aimed at training dancers in terms of movement techniques and body consciousness. Concentrated and consequent work allows the young dancers to understand the dynamics of their bodies in space and feel the priceless value of the creative approach to their own bodies.
DF is also a place where its members improve their choreographic skills and implement their own ideas. Katarzyna Skawińska is the choreographer of the DF dance theater shows. The sensual experience of movement tugs at one’s heartstrings and demands putting into a communicative form. Katarzyna Skawińska finds language, a medium that has this power, at its source, exploring the traditional value of art. Her creative effort is also concentrated on interpretation of text and images of culture, proposing high esthetics of motion and touching upon the passage of time and the depth of silence through dance. She does not exploit the areas of critical art or auto-thematic art, but reinterprets the artistic canon, believing in momentous significance of dance in culture.
